Footnotes containing templates are not exported in PDF
Closed, DuplicatePublic

Description

Footnotes containing templates, such as:
<ref>{{anytemplate|...}}</ref>
Don't work when exported in PDF with the "Download as PDF" function.
The [1], [2]... symbols appear, but there is no corresponding footnote in the References section of the PDF file.

Try for example to Download as PDF http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonathan_Sykes. Many people noticed this with different combinations of browser, wikipedia language, article and templates.

This is badly broken on probably most articles, e.g. [[Julia Gillard]].

I was about to fill in the same bug.

NOTE: i tried, in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonathan_Sykes, to replace the <ref> with a #ref tag (as in http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Magic_words#Miscellaneous), and now exporting to PDF seems to work for that note. Hope this helps solving the bug. Looks like a problem in parsing precedence

bug 46115 This was discussed in March when we working on the new templates, but the issue is not confined to the citation templates.
