Save action doesn't handle abort hooks very elegantly
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

When your edit trips the blacklist or an editfilter, you get a very technical and uninformative message.

The edit filter causes: "Error: The notification you tried to make was aborted by an extension hook" to show in the 'save' dialog.

The URL blacklist: "Invalid code error" apparently.

Since this is quite common for newbs to trip, it should be handled better.

Bumping priority & importance as proper integration with abusefilter must be a blocker, I would think, as rules are being written to prevent VE edits that are destructive to Wikipedia content.

  • AbuseFilter is bug 50472; resolved fixed, and will be deployed tomorrow.
  • SpamBlacklist is bug 50826; resolved fixed, and deployed yesterday.

Marking this as a dupe of 50472.
