Unintuitive echo notification counter when reading HTML (text browser)
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

When watching a typical Wikipedia page using a text browser (w3m in my case), I am getting:

Navigation menu

Personal tools

• Saper
• 1
• Talk
• Preferences
• Watchlist
• Contributions
• Log out

Namespaces

• Project page
• Discussion

Variants

..

I would say things are more or less clear and readable except this magic digit "one" in the second line.

It should be something along the lines:

  • There is 1 unread message (or "notification available" or ...)

Version: unspecified
Severity: normal

This is probably also a problem in some screen reader/ browser combinations (not all read the title attributes).
