Description:
For example,
http://kohl.wikimedia.org/~kate/cgi-bin/count_edits?user=GerardM&dbname=commonswiki
used to link you to a page that gave GerardM's edit count on the Commons. Now,
it links to a page with 9 paragraphs of disclaimers, and a button "i understand,
show me the edit count", which uses a random hash to make the resulting page
non-linkable.
I have nothing against the disclaimers; edit counts can certainly be misused,
and if Kate wants to rant about that, that's her right. But can we please
restore the ability to link directly to the edit count page? After all, there
are legitimate uses for edit counting (else why have the counter at all?), and
that button makes the whole thing much less usable.
I suggest the button be removed, and the edit count simply be restored to the
bottom of the page that currently has the button, below the disclaimers.
