BiDi: user icon might be shown twice in IE
Closed, InvalidPublic

Description

Author: gangleri

Description:
Hallo!

screen dump will follow
This is a bug relared to IE (possibly [[MediaWiki:Monobook.css]] etc.).

You can reproduce this bug creating an account similar to
http://test.leuksman.com/index.php?title=User:%E2%80%AA%E2%80%AB%D7%92%D7%90%D6%B7%D7%A0%D7%92%D7%9C%D7%A2%D7%A8%D7%99_4%E2%80%AC%E2%80%AC
replacing "_4" with another value.

The purpose of this report is both to find a workaround and also to know what to
prevent / what to *recommend* to the users about creating LTR accounts in RTL
wikis and viceversa.

A *global* requirement as "use LTR user names at LTR wikis and RTL user names at
RTL wikis" does not reflect the practice at the WikiMedia foundation wiki's.

best regards reinhardt [[user:gangleri]]

P. S. I did not test all accounts from
http://test.leuksman.com/view/Category:Bugzilla/BiDi
wit IE. Some of them will probably behave the same.

If a fix / workaround can be found it should handle also:

It is probably a site effect of using unusual user names. Never experiend this
problem with "normal" / "more common" user names.

removed direct dependency to bug 745
Bug 745: RTL/bidirectional issues (tracking)
