Hamburger menu contains items which just take you to a sub-page of the options dialog
Open, LowPublic

Description

From the feedback page on enwiki:

The first item in the Page options menu, “Options”, does EXACTLY what the second item, “Page settings”, does - it opens the dialog box with “Page settings” selected. Can this first, totally extraneous item, be removed from this menu? It just confuses things. -- John Broughton (♫♫) 20:30, 10 August 2014 (UTC)

Now *technically* it does do something subtly different: it opens the meta dialog at whichever page you most recently used, but if you haven't yet opened it during the current editing session that doesn't matter. It's also not a distinction that warrants having a separate tool IMO.

I was about to file the same thing. Why would we want to keep this (semi-)redundant item?

From T209918:

Redundant ways to access the page options dialog (meta dialog) are redundant.

Consider this menu:

Out of 9 tools in this menu, 6 actually all open the same dialog! – they just open it to different tabs, which you can also switch between using the menu on the left.

This is even sillier in wikitext mode, where most of these options (and their corresponding dialog tabs) are disabled.

Could we perhaps remove all of these menu items ("Categories", "Page settings", "Advanced settings", "Languages", "Templates used"), leaving only "Options" to open the dialog?

As a new user I don't think I'd look into a menu item labeled "Options" to edit categories, so these redundant entries at least help users to find them.

I'd agree that these are useful (at least on desktop) for discoverability.

We could perhaps indent them to make it clear the are sub-items of the options dialog.
