Flow: Moderation reasons should accept the same limited parsing as normal edit summaries
Open, LowPublic

Description

At https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Topic:S1h3933zeog0cpxe&action=history
I placed an internal wikilink in the summary, to provide context for my moderation action. That wikilink should have worked.

I've asked, and been told that the usual edit-summary uses "Linker::formatComment" as the limited parser. That doesn't seem to be documented at a technical level anywhere on mediawiki.org.
The user guide to "what works in edit summaries" is at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Edit_summary#Properties

From merged task:

Per T95174, moderation reason fields do not support wikitext. This breaks user expectations and make the explanations less useful than they should be:

Version: unspecified
Severity: normal

hide/delete/suppress summary is just plain text, this is what it was designed for. We could make it get parsed by Linker::formatComment(), is this really necessary?

As far as I know, delete reasons can contain wikitext and get parsed. It's, e.g., used in pre-defined delete reasons on mediawiki.org, which are missing in Flow, too, which is very bad, too :)
