Allow to receive email notifications but exclude web notifications
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

As a user who knows how to use email, I want to avoid 50 "Gilles added a project" notifications to ever land https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/notification/ in the first place, without giving up email notifications.

I'm interested in project notifications in general and I'm ready to use my email client to filter them, as well as to delete notifications in bulk by means of selection and "del" key in my email client, while the web interface has a lower level of functionality (cf. T75745 for the web interface).

Nemo_bis added a project: Phabricator.

From our Email Preferences ( https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/settings/panel/emailpreferences/ ) when emails are enabled, the notifications are added but marked as read. So there is no notifications in the web interface.

If you get everything in mails, you don't really care about the notification view ( https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/notification/ ) do you?

I do. Otherwise switching from one method to the other is impossible.

Not what you're asking for, but some thoughts on email vs. web notifications by the maintainers: https://secure.phabricator.com/T6162

The only web notifications I'm getting are Tokens given to tasks I'm subscribed to (one every now and then). All the rest comes from email only, and I get plenty of emails. I just fine-tuned the email preferences.

Is this task really a problem on regular days, when nobody migrates 500 tasks in a few hours?

As said, I don't think this is a problem. I propose to decline this task.
