Narrative

As a developer, I want to have a standard style library, so that I don't have to bother a designer every time I need to pick a color/font size/etc.

Acceptance Criteria

have a less file with a bunch of variables with generic, semantic names (@active-tab-color, @primary-text-font-size etc) and comments explaining their use
ideally, contribute it back to whatever central style library exists

The WMF base variables file is existing at https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/diffusion/WMUI/. But I don't have time to implement it any time soon.

I understand correctly that this refers to the comparison with the styles of the MediaWiki, and not the extension itself? I would expand it in this case.
