Adjust the ‘Go back’ function for Media Viewer
Closed, DuplicatePublic

Migrated from:

As a user, I can use the Go back button as expected, so that I don't have to go through a long sequence of images I visited when I just want to return to an article.

Acceptance Criteria

  • Limit the image exploration through next/prev to just one back state
  • Decouple URLs from back state in Media Viewer, soit behaves in a more predictable way

For example, once you exit Media Viewer, the first "back" action would bring you back to Media Viewer (preferably in the last image you viewed) and a second one brings you back to where you were before (e.g., an article).

This isa frequent user complaint (22 requests from the feedback we processed, 3 bugs and a couple tweets), so it would be good if we could try to fix it soon.
