Sort out Performance Metrics Dashboard mentorship
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Due to a combination of factors, we haven't been able to line up a good mentorship for @Memeht in the Performance-Metrics-Dashboard project yet. This has caused a delay in her start on this program. This needs to be solved urgently. @Qgil is working on this.

@Memeht, altough it is being extremely difficult to find a mentor available in these pre-vacation days, we are narrowing down the area where your work is welcome: improving the metrics for VisualEditor, a key feature in the modernization of Wikipedia and wiki editing in general. Here you have some pointers:

I will create some tasks under Performance-Metrics-Dashboard

@Jdforrester-WMF has volunteered to find a project for @Memeht and mentor her, as soon as he is back from vacation in January. In the meantime, he proposed this task: T84949: Familiarize yourself with edit-reportcard.wmflabs.org

For the period between now and James' return, @ssastry has created T85232: Performance instrumentation in parsoid, a task that he is happy to mentor.

While these tasks were defined, I started the routing of weekly meetings with Christy, and I also pointed her to look at annoying little bugs, in the case she finished with the interim work.

The situation is far from ideal, but I'm personally happy for having reached to this point during these pre-holidays dates, and I'm very thankful for Subbu's and James' help.

Yesterday @Memeht and I had our weekly meeting. She is busy with tasks, she has questions that can find answers in the Analytics mailing list and the Parsoid IRC channel. I'm supporting her as generic mentor for now, but this is a task that I'm doing reactively when she has questions. I think this is going as good as it could during the Winter holidays, considering the situation in which we were just ten days ago. :)

@Memeht is now more than busy with @ssastry and @Jdforrester-WMF. I will continue acting as "generic mentor". This task is resolved now. Thank you Chrsity for your patience, and thank you Subbu and James for stepping in!
