Can't comment a task without subscribing to it
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

Unsubscribing after the fact is rather ugly. https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T616#13264
Would be interesting to know how many bugzilla users don't add themselves to cc by default when commenting (DB query on bugzilla user preferences needed).

I guess the principle here is that posting a comment means to join a discussion, and this is why you get CCed by default.

Joining a discussion to say something and then leave is technically possible (just unsubscribe manually), but I understand why this would not be encouraged with a specific configuration.

This is my opinion and this is what I would expect upstream to say. Proposing to decline this request.

I'm declining this. Most of the time you rather join a discussion and are interested in following it instead of adding a drive-by comment and not being interested in further discussion.
I don't consider the latter common enough to add a checked-by-default "Subscribe me when I add this comment" checkbox to the task UI, and the one additional click on "Unsubscribe" seems acceptable.
