Search in Bugzilla Preview instance is broken
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

DISCLAIMER

It was not a goal to have search fully operational in bugzillapreview, although we agree that it is convenient to have a functional search there for better testing. Genuine search bugs must be reproduced in https://phabricator.wikimedia.org

When I search for a bug # by using the search field I get a curl error --

eg

72473 results in:

Unhandled Exception ("HTTPFutureCURLResponseStatus")
[cURL/7] (http://localhost:9200/phabricator/TASK,CMIT,MOCK,PROJ,QUES,DREV,USER,WIKI/_search) <CURLE_COULDNT_CONNECT> The cURL library raised an error while making a request. You may be able to find more information about this error (error code: 7) on the cURL site: http://curl.haxx.se/libcurl/c/libcurl-errors.html#CURLECOULDNTCONNECT

Yes, the general search is not properly configured, and I wonder how difficult is to fix this. It is a bugzillapreview specific problem, search in phabricator.wikimedia.org works.

In the meantime, if you want to search the task corresponding to a specific Bugzilla report, you can use the ext_ref field in the advanced search: https://bugzillapreview.wmflabs.org/maniphest/query/advanced/ ("bz1234").

I can't fix it because the BZ migration instance doesn't seem to be in the phabricator labs project.

Someone probably just needs to run ./bin/search index --all

there is some weirdness:

[ ] 0.0%[2014-10-24 17:10:32] PHLOG: 'Unable to index document PHID-TASK-a4ut6dgg5l3advymkag3 with engine PhabricatorSearchEngineElastic.' at [/srv/phab/phabricator/src/applications/search/index/PhabricatorSearchDocumentIndexer.php:57]

It was agreed that elasticsearch was outside the scope of the preview previously

Yes, but I was assuming that the default Phabricator search would be still available instance. e can expect that many users will just hit the search box to find samples of bugs.

Similar to T688, this issue here is now "works for me".

Now the error doesn't show up, but searching "mediawiki" throws no results, which is suspicious. :)

We decided in our meeting today that we will give @Chad access to the instance so he can fix this whenever he has time. Thank you!

Yeah. Confirming that search does not offer results. I entered

several visualization tools

in the search field in the Search field in the upper right corner on https://bugzillapreview.wmflabs.org expecting it to find https://bugzillapreview.wmflabs.org/T7233 but no results...

Agreed, but let's be fair with the resolution. :)

Do I understand this correctly? We're not going to be able to search for
bugzilla bugs by number?

This bug is about the bugzillapreview instance only.

After the migration, you are going to be able to search for Bugzilla reports by number here in phabricator.wikimedia.org exactly in the same way that you can search now for tasks that were migrated from fab.wmflabs.org, using the reference field in Maniphest's advanced search.

(Off topic, but still...)

Thanks for documenting this at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Phabricator/Help#Finding_the_Maniphest_task_corresponding_to_a_Bugzilla_bug_number ; does this mean that phabricator doesn't enjoy a feature similar to bugzilla's quicksearch, which searches all fields? This should be documented as well.
