Yes, the general search is not properly configured, and I wonder how difficult is to fix this. It is a bugzillapreview specific problem, search in phabricator.wikimedia.org works.

In the meantime, if you want to search the task corresponding to a specific Bugzilla report, you can use the ext_ref field in the advanced search: https://bugzillapreview.wmflabs.org/maniphest/query/advanced/ ("bz1234").

I can't fix it because the BZ migration instance doesn't seem to be in the phabricator labs project.

Someone probably just needs to run ./bin/search index --all

Yes, but I was assuming that the default Phabricator search would be still available instance. e can expect that many users will just hit the search box to find samples of bugs.

Now the error doesn't show up, but searching "mediawiki" throws no results, which is suspicious. :)

After the migration, you are going to be able to search for Bugzilla reports by number here in phabricator.wikimedia.org exactly in the same way that you can search now for tasks that were migrated from fab.wmflabs.org, using the reference field in Maniphest's advanced search.

Thanks for documenting this at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Phabricator/Help#Finding_the_Maniphest_task_corresponding_to_a_Bugzilla_bug_number ; does this mean that phabricator doesn't enjoy a feature similar to bugzilla's quicksearch, which searches all fields? This should be documented as well.
