Description

Edit buttons in stubs

Idea 06:
In each {{stub}} template, have a nice "Edit" button to encourage people to edit. Merge multiple {{stub}} templates into one.

Challenges:
I (James Hare) actually tried to get buy-in for this. It requires some changes to how stub templates work in general and no one can agree.
Also, how does this scale to all of the Wikimedia wikis? How does it scale to non-Wikimedia MediaWiki installs? Can we do something more systemic to make this easier in some way?
My idea is sadly very project specific.

Could be a WikiData tag rather than a template u need to insert.

So I am not sure how in-scope this is for Phabricator, since it is mostly concerned with English Wikipedia templates, unless we are talking about building stub templates directly into MediaWiki, making it article metadata rather than a template put on the page. But is anyone proposing that?

We don't have a #Wikipedia project (see T802), or a project about creating/modifying templates, but I don't see any reason why this idea couldn't be discussed here. Of course, it will only go this far without involving in the discussion the actual maintainers of these templates.

Maybe @Quiddity has a suggestion?
