Description

Author: tijmplant

Description:
When using colours in pages, red and green shouldn't be used on the same page as
about 8 percent of the people can not distinguish these colours. A better colour
as a substitute for green (new or current message) is yellow: #FF9; , which is
highly contrasting in comparison with both red and green. Although this can be
fixed using the users monobook.css, it is better to fix it as standard.

Looks fine with #ff9, I think.

The problem with yellow is that it's sort of confusing to contrast it with red;
it's usually used as a middle ground between green and red. Blue doesn't have
that kind of connotation.

If you do use yellow, though, don't use #ff9, use something more pastel (to
match the red).

What kind of blue? Keep in mind the table header is blue as well.

The red and green are #ffe2e2 and #e2ffe2 respectively, so #e2e2ff would be
logical.

patch for main.css for Special:Allmessages color (blue)

OK. I don't really like yellow anyways. ;)

The diff fixes /skins/monobook/main.css, but the site seems to be running on
http://en.wikipedia.org/skins-1.5/monobook/main.css. Does that mean it's using
v1.5 of monobook?

While I like blue, this combination makes me shudder. Too reminiscing of
Wikipedia boilerplates :(

Although both colours (blue and yellow) are perfectly capable, the preferred
colour is a personal issue too. I prefer, however, yellow, because it has a
higher contrast and seems to work better on LCD-screens: colour difference
between the red and yellow is always high and does not depend on the vertical
viewing-angle (which is not the case if blue is used).

No.

The default color these days seems to be green and yellow. Is this a problem?

FWIW I don't see any colours at twn atm.

If you would not abbreviate every second word, maybe I could read it.

For what it is worth, I don't see any colours at translatewiki.net at the moment. Will you fix it now?

Where do you see this? As far as I can see it is still red and green.
Did you change your monobook.css yourself?
Anyhow, green and yellow is a nice colour palet for colour blind people.

No, I didn't change mine. I was just severely confused for about 5 minutes.

Default colors are yellow & green. I just checked again myself (also fixed some broken IDs in r54692, might've been cause of confusion above). Any red/blue customizations would be because of enwiki or elsewhere.
