Rephrase the message "Don't use machine translation" in Special:ContentTranslation
Closed, DuplicatePublic

Description

For language pairs in which machine translation is not available, the string "Don't use machine translation" doesn't make sense - it can't be used anyway.

This message should be changed to something like "Don't fill the translation box". Maybe for some language pairs this should probably be the default (maybe even for all languages without MT).

Reading your initial description it was not clear to me, but I think we need two different messages, not just replacing the current one:

  • For languages where there is Machine Translation, I think we should use the current message (it indicates that MT is an option).
  • For languages where there is not Machine Translation, but only for those, it makes sense to use a different more specific message (since the reference to MT may be confusing in that case). Regarding the message, I would recommend something like "Start with an empty paragraph" (the reference to the "translation box" may be confusing since the user may feel he is just editing a document not inside any box).

You understood me correctly.

"Start with an empty paragraph" is a good suggestion. I think that it can work for languages with and without MT, but I don't want to bikeshed.
