Proxy creation fails with opaque error message

Description

Attempting to create a new proxy causes a failure with an error message "Failed to create a proxy: Failed to create new proxy <fqdn>."

Incidentally, it no longer seems possible to pick plain "wmflabs.org" as the domain.

This appears to have been fixed by a related (to DNS) issue being fixed.

(For the record, that was T90856)

A further note, while the issue is not present now @Ironholds reports that it may have occured as late as 2015-03-02
