This is unclear. One is tablet, one is phone.

The width of phones is always more narrow, so that difference is apples to oranges.
The height is calculated by percentage, so those will differ as well between tablets and phones.

Please clarify.

The two attached samples display crop and/or scale problems - important images' details were cut off:

  • on the first image - people's figures are not fully displayed
  • on the second image - the Oxygen molecule outline is lost- only the central part is enlarged and displayed.

Imagine a world where editors are empowered to select relevant image crops. Imagine a world where T9757 is fixed.

This seems less like a bug in the app, than an issue that there is no shared definition or editorial control of the lead image display. I'm leaving open for now, but I don't think we can take any actions on our side, except to support implementing T9757
