Viewing an unassigned task while logged out shows an "Automatically subscribed" disabled button
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

I was viewing a task on Phabricator.
I wanted to subscribe to it.
On the right, I saw "Automatically Subscribed" with the tick symbol.
So I thought: "OK, I am subscribed to this task." But this is wrong. In fact, I was guest — which is not very clear — and Phabricator tells guests that they are "automatically subscribed" — God knows why.

This is misleading.

It would be nice to correct that.

Thank you.

Can you share the URL of the task?

Yes.

It was https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T91909

But the bug occurs with any task.

I see. "Automatically subscribed" appears as a greyed option for anonymous users, which doesn't make any sense indeed.

Qgil moved this task from Backlog to Ready To Go on the Phabricator (Upstream) board.
Krenair renamed this task from Viewing a tasks incorrectly tells the user "Automatically Subscribed" to Viewing an unassigned task while logged out shows an "Automatically subscribed" disabled button.EditedMay 10 2015, 3:25 PM
Krenair subscribed.

This is because the owner PHID for unassigned tasks is null, and the PHID for logged out users is null. ("Automatically subscribed" = you are the owner of this object)

I'll submit a patch upstream

Merged upstream. Wikimedia will get it in our next update of Phabricator.
