Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

@Papaul,

We'll be placing system wmf5816 back in to service, and renaming it from its old Tampa name. The system was named mexia, the new name is subra.

Please do the following:

  • - apply new name label (subra) to front and back of system
  • - update the visible label field in racktables from tola to subra once labels have been replaced
  • - confirm/correct all bios/redirection settings
  • - update mgmt network, ip: 10.193.2.163
  • - test login/redirection/powercycle via mgmt
  • - update this task with the network port that this system is plugged into
  • - resolve task when complete

could you check the cable? i'm getting

PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: Exiting Broadcom PXE ROM.

No boot device available.

when trying to install the OS

This may be due to the network port not being setup yet per parent task T93261. I'll set that up now, so resolving this task. (If it still fails with this after setup, then this should re-open.)

the OS installer fails to detect any disks here when it does hardware detection, unlike with suhail where it worked normal. could you check if the hardware is actually there and/or BIOS settings?

Dzahn raised the priority of this task from Medium to High.

So this is an older system with H310 raid controller (not really raid, just crappy controller). So I've set them to non raid disks and rebooted into the installer.

the installer now detects disks and formats them. after being done it keeps PXE booting though, so it's a cycle of reinstalling and rebooting.

i went to BIOS and changed the boot order which was set to try the NIC first and set it to use the first HD but that didn't make it boot from it either
