Plain language definitions of Wikimetrics metrics
Closed, DeclinedPublic

The definitions for metrics listed on are written in a technical way for the sake of precision. This is fine, as long as there's also a plain-language version available that users can find (see related @T93659). In some cases the definitions at Research:Metrics_standardization could be supplemented with accurate but simpler definitions (with examples) in learning patterns.

Some metrics, like bytes added, have direct analogues in a specific Global metrics learning pattern, but others like rolling active editor don't. These metrics need a plain language definition. More learning patterns is probably the way to go here.

Thanks for creating this task, J-Mo!
Before thinking about format, channels, I would like to know if there is any application for this content: are we hoping to use a more plain definition somewhere, like a presentation, workshop, poster, or has someone asked for this specifically? Or are we just flagging this as something that needs to be done?
I think a Learning Pattern is a good idea, but if there is more context to this task, I would like to know. It might help us bring out a better product.

@mcruzWMF I was thinking that these definitions would be useful if we made them available through a "learn more" link on the individual metric definition pages on Wikimetrics. Like this one:
