Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

I've made an interface to kmlexport.

This can still be improved upon and be moved to Labs.

It is time to promote Wikimedia-Hackathon-2015 activities in the program (training sessions and meetings) and main wiki page (hacking projects and other ongoing activities). Follow the instructions, please. If you have questions, about this message, ask here.

Did someone work on this project during Wikimedia-Hackathon-2015? If so, please update the task with the results. If not, please remove the label.

KMLexport's maintainer is long-term inactive, therefore this tool looks for a maintainer who could use abandoned tool policy and fix e.g. T187625 or fix this issue. @1Veertje Do you want to be a maintainer of this tool?

The main problem with taking over kmlexport is that in T92963#2265237 @Para, the original maintainer, refused to license the current source code:

The source code is here. I'm not licensing it in any way, but you can do what you will with it. Happy to add maintainers to the project if someone's interested in continuing to run it there.

@bd808 Well, he claimed he will be happy if somebody will maintain his project and from I'm not licensing it in any way, but you can do what you will with it. part we can assume the license is either Copyright (no license provided) or CC0 (you can do whatever you want). And as he claimed he will be happy if somebody will maintain his project, obviously we should fulfill his wish and allow anybody interested in maintaining the project to take over it.

Hello @1Veertje, I've been made a kmlexport co-maintainer a while ago. Do you have Perl/HTML code of your example somewhere? It still has some features missing, but they should be easy to add.

@1Veertje: Hi! This task has been assigned to you a while ago. Could you maybe share an update? Do you still plan to work on this task, or do you need any help?

If this task has been resolved in the meantime: Please update the task status (via Add Action...Change Status in the dropdown menu).
If this task is not resolved and only if you do not plan to work on this task anymore: Please consider removing yourself as assignee (via Add Action...Assign / Claim in the dropdown menu): That would allow others to work on this (in theory), as others won't think that someone is already working on this. Thanks! :)

@1Veertje: I am resetting the assignee of this task because there has not been progress lately (please correct me if I am wrong!). Resetting the assignee avoids the impression that somebody is already working on this task. It also allows others to potentially work towards fixing this task. Please claim this task again when you plan to work on it (via Add Action...Assign / Claim in the dropdown menu) - it would be welcome. Thanks for your understanding!
