Update DNS for the Wikipedia store, before May 31

Description

The message that I got from Shopify:

"Our new servers will make your store faster, more reliable, and more secure. Upgrade today
Shopify

Hi Victoria,

As we announced before the holidays, we’ve invested in more powerful and robust servers to host all Shopify stores.
These new servers will make your store faster, more reliable, and more secure.

You’ll need to make a small update to your domain’s settings before May 31st so that your store works with our new
servers. This is because your custom domain was set up through a third-party domain provider. The change will take
effect immediately, and won't lead to any downtime for your store.

It’s easy to update to your domain. You can either:

Contact your third-party domain provider and have them assist you in changing your A Record to point to our new IP
address: 23.227.38.32

or

Make the change to your domain’s IP address yourself by following the steps in our detailed guide.

Remember, you have to make this change before May 31st, or your custom domain will no longer work with your Shopify
store. If you have any questions, you can contact us at support@shopify.com."

At this point there are 3 different answers we have recevied:

a) use the existing CNAME shopwikipedia.myshopify.com. and just move that from "shop" to "store"

this seems logical because it is the currently working setup and all we want is change from shop to store but for some reason that is not what Shopify says we should do

b) keep using a CNAME but change it to c.ssl.shopify.com

shopify has previously said we could and should make this change any time so i did last Friday but that resulted in an error message about the shop not being available

this would have been nice because it meant we could just set "store" to the new name without touching the current "shop" at all and see if it works.

c) use an A Record to point to our new IP address: 23.227.38.32

This would be different from the current setup and they have never talked about an A record before in our support requests we opened. Additionally they now say if we don't change this our shop will stop working.

What is going on at shopify?

Since it's already so confusing, It's probably better if we keep all the updates in one place, i'd suggest we keep using T92438.

I have mailed Effie and CCed you, Victoria.

@vshchepakina

We can close this one, Effie replied and said:

"Apologies for the mass email sent to Victoria, this doesn't apply to Plus customers, or your account, because you're using a custom SSL certificate."
