Oh, to clarify:

1. I tried PDFing the whole thing.

that failed

2. I tried PDFing the first half or so,

that failed

3. I tried PDFing the first part of the thing

that failed

4. I tried PDFing the first part, without the last 3 pages of it,

and THAT worked.

then I figured ~maybe it can only understand 16 or fewer pages?~

so, then after downloading that beginning-of-the-book ( so I can study on my kindle, at home )
I tried clearing my collection, & adding 12 pages,
but that failed...

so, I tried fewer,
that failed
tried fewer again,
that failed,
when I got down to about 3 pages left,
the last-3 pages of Unit 1
the eror message changed to the TeX error,
so I don't know if now I've exceeded my allowed attempts,
or if there's a memory-leak in TeX or something...

but the last 3 pages of Unit 1 wouldn't PDF for me, as a collection of 3 pages.

however, I don't know if that particular failure was the same as the original failure,
as sometime around then the TeX message appeared...

if you enable the Collection Creator

then ADD pages to the collection, so Unit 1 of
Blender 3D: Noob to Pro
is all added
( i go to the Blender 3D page,
open the Unit 1 pages in new tabs, in firefox
then cycle through the tabs, adding each page to my Collection )

then you go to that link I just added,
change to 1 column ( it's for a kindle, right? )
& download PDF button is on the right side of that page

they you get the World's Boringest Video, as the page sometimes refreshes
( often it stops doing-so, i don't know why )
so usually I have to refresh it manually, after awhile, then so long as I don't have the whole of Unit 1 selected,
that is if I "trash" the last 3 pages of Unit 1,
then it'll work ( or rather it did work, haven't tried it again... )

I just tried it again with the single page
Properties Window ( near end of Unit 1 )
and it gave me the TeX eror again...

does that help enough?

Where to find "Unit 1 of Blender 3D: Noob to Pro"? Link very welcome so someone else could try to reproduce.

Adding that one page http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Noob_to_Pro to the Collection, it is rendered and I get 8 pages as PDF in https://en.wikibooks.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Book&bookcmd=download&collection_id=268840597436ae07394e9bba3acffdd589662742&writer=rdf2latex&return_to=Special%3ABook and all 8 pages look okay to me.

But maybe this requires more steps (more pages added to the Collection)?

( narrower-paper would be helpful for us kindle-users, as the A4 setting makes the type a bit too small, but letter would be worse )

then, hit the download PDF button, right-side, wait while it refreshes a few times, & then...

"Rendering failed

Generation of the document file has failed.

Status: Rendering process died with non zero code: 1"

There: exact sequence.

Now I'm going to continue trying with fewer & fewer pages...
( already tried with the rest of Unit 2A, that failed...
so I reduced it from 12 pages to 6 pages, that I list above )

( the last thing it says before the Failed message is "compiling PDF" btw... )

it took only 3 pages to fail it that time...

failed it.

So, then I tried it with JUST the Properties Window page,
and got the TeX error message, which means something else has now failed in the server,
and I'll not be able to get the original failure-message again, no matter how many times I try ( today, or maybe until the server is rebooted? )

So, if you clear your Collection, add those 3 pages to it, in order,
it'll NOW fail with the TeX failure, but before it would fail with the error message I listed above...

this is the new error message:
"Rendering failed

Generation of the document file has failed.

Status: ! TeX capacity exceeded, sorry [parameter stack size=10000]."

Sorry I didn't explain anything right, before, but this time should get that corrected.
