Flow should support re-signatures
Open, LowPublic

Description

For the purposes of backwards compatibility, refactoring, and facilitating migration from old ugly talk pages and LQT, Flow should let users sign a post for another person, such as if the post was signed by an anonymous user before logging in by mistake, or it was moved from an ugly non-Flowised place and the message creation date needs to be visible on the new post properly (while the edit date would be today).

Flow does not have signatures.

Are you proposing to change the author field for this? What is to stop people from simply forging authors (taking an anonymous post and choosing a logged in user who supposedly wrote it but really didn't)? Do you propose restricting this right to prevent abuse?

The one use case where I think this might be necessary is if someone forgets to log in, and you want to "claim" your own post and sign it as your own user name.

I don't understand the suggestion that you'd want to edit a message creation date; it's system-generated.
