Search by commenter on Phabricator
Open, LowestPublicFeature

Description

I am on phabricator.wikimedia.org.

I want to find a task on which I have commented.

I go to the advanced search.

I can search by author, by subscriber, but not by commenter.

I want to search by commenter.

It would be nice to have the criterion "commenter" in search.

Bugzilla has this criterion in search.

Thank you.

Qgil triaged this task as Low priority.May 7 2015, 12:37 PM
Qgil edited projects, added Phabricator (Upstream); removed Phabricator.

For the time being you can search for subscribers - commenters is pretty much a subset (if you did not unsubscribe yourself after commenting) so I'm wondering if there is enough use cases to differentiate between "following" (I'm interested in this task) and "commenting" (I'm interested in this task so I even commented on it)...

I sympathize with the idea of "I remember commenting on a bug, but what was it?" or "which was that bug were Andre talked about ABC?". I don't recall missing this recently, but the situation sounds familiar.

I'm curious what upstream would think about it, but that is how far goes my personal interest. If someone wants to file upstream, you're welcome.

I don't think it would be very difficult to implement this. It would also be nice to have a way to search the full-text of comments directly as well as a feature to browse all comments by user. Browsing comments would be a little more difficult and searching comments is currently possible but only indirectly, as the comment text is indexed with the task so you can find tasks by words used in a comment but you can't directly find the comment its self.
