See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Citation#Authors and Editors below that for author-link and editor-link functionality in citations. It would be nice to be able to find all pages that refer to a given author and generate links for them. @Jerodlycett 13:29, 4 March 2015 (UTC)

Since this ticket has been opened since 2015 maybe someone can ping @Jerodlycett on Wiki and ask him if he still wants to pursue this change?

Otherwise if there is no consensus for the change I recommend we close it as no consensus for the change.
