Spike: Use WMF-hosted unsubscribe page for Fundraising emails, make conditional opt-out options
Closed, InvalidPublic2 Estimated Story PointsSpike

Description

We used to use our WMF unsubscribe page for all fundraising emails, but the page would often break so we migrated to a Silverpop unsubscribe page for all emails outside of Civi TY letters.

Prong 1 of this task

Ideally, we would like to return to using a WMF page for all emails, so long as it was relatively stable, for the following reasons:

  1. the Silverpop link domain is https://www.pages04.net/wikimedia/WMFUnsubscribe - our own would be better
  2. Civi does not currently get Silverpop unsubscribe data
  3. We would theoretically have more flexibility in what the page could do

Prong 2 of this task, only to be achieved after Prong 1

Related to item #3 above, Major Gifts would like to see us come up with a conditional opt-out page which would allow donors to select the type of mailings they receive, i.e.:

  • I would like to receive all email updates from the Wikimedia Foundation
  • I would like to receive quarterly updates from the Wikimedia Foundation, and event invites
  • I would like to receive an annual update only
  • I would not like to receive any email from the Wikimedia Foundation

That's just an example, and I'm sure the real thing would look different. The idea would be that Civi would separate these responses into separate preferences and lists so that we could import them into different databases in Silverpop.
