So given the above, what are the best steps to take next? Is it best to work through the issues identified by the Security-Team or make a smaller custom extension that can populate <meta name="citation_.*"> tags from wikidata?

@Urbanecm Thanks for the clear reply - this is really useful for refining what info is needed.

Is there capacity for someone to make a dedicated extension? Essentially all that needs to be done is to pull relevant fields from the wikidata item linked to a particular page and add a set of standardised <meta name="citation_.*"> tags. For example:

Thanks! In general, it'll be useful to be able to control both relies and new discussions in similar ways, especially via the URL. The use case on this page is probably extreme, but there are plenty of pages where replies expect to have templates in (or around) them. The most common is probably voting, where it'd be useful to have three buttons support/oppose/comment that add a reply with one of those templates (similar to Template:Vote_below).

Other interested members on phabricator may include: @Bryandamon , @jeblad , @Daniel_Mietchen, @Faendalimas.
From a WikiJournal User Group point of view, these would also be very interesting (technical wishlist). I'm pretty unfamiliar with Phabricator. What'd the best way to restart this? Especially:

Since the main use case for shotening long urls within wikimedia is 99% for query.wikidata.org, could that page instead include an option for the query to be piped straight to the url shortener (or compress its url)?

Just a note to say this would be extremely valuable for WikiJournals, since almost all links in them are interwiki links pointing to wikipedia articles. (discussion, draft technical wishlist)

+ 1 on increasing length. Indeed long wikidata queries are probably the single most valuable use-case for the w.wiki url shortener.

I love the idea of this module. I'm trying to get Template:WPX_member_box functional in WikiProject_Molecular_Biology. It seems to work fine in other wikiprojects. Is there page that I need to create that I'm missing?

What would the process be for deciding whether the character limit can be raised?

I'd be happy to see it raised an order of magnitude. Is there a possible negative application or security risk that it is aiming to avoid?
Additional note: In mobile mode, I also get the warning "The URL is too long, the maximum size is 2,000 characters". This doesn't appear in the desktop version.

We're currently looking at moving off godaddy. Eventually we hope to have the Wikimedia take over hosting of the domain name (meta:WikiJournal).

Although requested for distinctly self-serving reasons, I think date ranges will be generally useful in the same way that they are in the pageviews tool.

It is used for listing all contributors to a WikiJournal article (e.g. Rotavirus journal article) using a hyperlinked "et al" in the author list.
