Not reproducible using Chinese, google chrome 79.0.3945.79.
BTW I notice that it hasn't chosen Traditional Chinese or Simplified Chinese automatically, I would propose this problem separately.

I tried to reappear to this problem on Chinese Wikipedia(1.35.0-wmf.8 (rMWcc33978bf914)) and whatever which skin or language, this problem does not appear. I think it might have been solved.

I tested every step on Chinese Wikipedia (MediaWiki 1.35.0-wmf.8 (rMWcc33978bf914)) and this problem had been solved.
