changed to toolforge-jobs.
Let me check, Possibly the mono6.8 image would work for me.

@aborrero , it seems https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T306311 by @taavi explicitly overriden this

Perhaps it's better to use "restart" for this use case. The manpage say "Only continuous and cron jobs are supported" but it doesn't say what a restart of an idle cronjob means. Apparently it means nothing.

@taavi I'm not sure I can help you with these questions. I just run mono myApp.exe and everything runs. I guess any dependencies I have are covered in that default mono package. There a few DLLs which I need and are not delivered by the system; I just reference them when building the exe (compiling).
This page https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Toolforge/Mono say "Currently, no docker image exists with Mono. This may change in the future."

I think the best solution would be to set both the execution environments in the grid and the user environment on bastion to default to UTF8 which is a modern de-facto standard.
@chasemp - No, I did not find it in the documentation; I thought the environment variable might do the trick and them I looked for qsub documentation to find -v.
This did the trick
Trying @scfc, @Pengo, @valhallasw, @zhuyifei1999 :-) thanks in advance

OK. I moved the cache file creation to /data/project/bothasava/ . thanks @zhuyifei1999
The bot needs to save some caching information which is best to be available across invocations. Is the best place to save it would be /data/project/bothasava/cachedir then ?
I understand.
added scheduled deletion to crontab
I am cleaning up now. You may delete these files on whim. Most are very old and the tool should not be creating so many. I will track it going forward. thanks

@scfc thanks this did the trick for BotHasava :-)
>become botsister qrsh -l release=trusty pwd Host key verification failed.
maybe @Pengo
No, this does not work reliably. Sometimes it asks for key verifications. Also I understand it would not work with cron (only jsub works there). I still need some help here. Does anyone run DotNetWikiBot bot on tools? or mono at all?
Nov 13 2016
qlogin and qrsh work OK too.
@valhallasw thank you for commenting.

It may be that the problem is actually with accessing https://he.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=query&meta=tokens&type=login&format=xml
