I see that the feature has gone live, i.e. finally out of beta.
Apr 12 2019
I see that "Edit" changed into another pencil icon (seen next to an article title).
However, clicking that button while enabling the NWE still results the same as before.Apr 11 2019
Oh... yeah. Sorry, I wasn't specific or clear enough.

I now realize that the "Add an [edit] link for the lead section of a page" option is not part of the MediaWiki software. Rather it's a local gadget.

@Liuxinyu970226 I recently repeated the steps at the Microsoft Edge 41.16299.371.0 (EdgeHTML 16.16299) on Windows 10 by dragging-and-dropping and found no similar issues there. On the contrary, the same issue persists at IE11 on Windows 10.

I would like to, responding to this task, write a separate task requesting a preferential option to disable/opt-out the puzzle (CodeMirror) icon, which would also prevent loading the feature. But then I figure that I would like to request it here first instead. It's almost similar to opt-in/opt-out function of the Beta Feature version of the CodeMirror feature, but it's not Beta.

That was toward those interested in this task, including you. Almost forgot: the Edittools at en-Wikinews has not been properly working.
Don't you think this would affect users who have disabled the improved (2010) toolbars, which can load more slowly than without the toolbar? What about other non-Wikipedia wikis dependent on its local Edittoolbars, like Edittools from en-wikinews and its Javascript code?
Nov 12 2018
@Samwilson I guess I meant both.
Nov 11 2018
Can edits made at eventually deleted pages be logged as well?
Nov 8 2018
Can CodeMirror be disabled from IE and Edge? Must I create a separate task to request it? The problems using CodeMirror in IE11 still persist for months since Com Tech gave up on fixing them; probably the same for Edge.
Nov 6 2018
Scenario B now becomes impossible to reproduce, but I can still reproduce steps of Scenario A.
Nov 3 2018
The issue still persists when the VisualEditor mode is disabled, so I think the task should be reopened.

@TheDJ Can charinsert gadgets in other projects like Wikimedia Commons be also modified, or have they been already done?
Jul 21 2018
@Numbermaniac The issue with using the features in IE11 is worse than in other browsers; other issue you raised should be separated as it looks minor (to me).

VE is still in beta on Wikimedia Commons.
Jun 14 2018
Right now, I no longer see the feature in the "Beta" tab. I clicked the highlighter button on the toolbar. This means that the feature is graduated out of beta for LTR wikis.

@jeblad I hate to admit that "Enable" is confusing and somewhat misleading, but I didn't wrote this task for the same purpose you opposed. Rather this is for finding ways to have the mode opted-in or opted-out in 2003 editor without using a toolbar. I changed the title and the description to reduce confusion.

@Deskana My apologies for not answering the "edit tab" question. I think I was using the single-tab mode when I enabled the "temporarily disable VE" option.

I still see those blue buttons label-less after clicking them. I'm on IE11 at Windows 7.

Is OOUI related to this? I see changes were made to modernize the layout. Moreover, I thought about adding the OOUI tag.

@Deskana I don't know why you marked it as "Resolved". Redirects are still un-editable at various browsers on Windows 7. Another example is https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Yoghurt&redirect=no

@ovasileva Tested my own sandbox on IE11 on Windows 7, and it works well.
Apr 4 2018
However, sometimes at IE11, the puzzle piece icon doesn't appear well, so I have to reload over and over.
@MusikAnimal It now works for me... Well, whenever I go anywhere while using the template, there is still one exception at line 39:
OO.inheritClass( mediaWiki.TemplateWizard.TemplateForm, OO.ui.Widget );
Apr 3 2018
@MusikAnimal I was using IE11 on Windows 7 with Vector skin. Actually, I was testing on inserting the "Infobox film" or "infobox person" template in a page.

I was using the Apple Safari 11.0.3 (13604.5.6). Then I enabled the "Develop" tab in the Menu, then right-clicked to open the context menu, and then clicked "Inspect Element" to open Safari's developer tools.

Anyone using the feature can try this link as an example: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Colour&redirect=no

Oh... didn't know the footer search box. So I tested the CologneBlue's footer search box as well. The autocomplete feature also works for the footer box, but you're right about scrolling the page down.
I tested out the search box in MonoBook, Modern, and CologneBlue skins in every web browser. The autocomplete feature now works in those skins.

I clicked a refresh button and/or pressed F5. The page switches back to one of old WikiEditors, depending on preferences.
It doesn't do this for me. If I click that link, it loads the visual editor. Refreshing also loads the visual editor.
Do you have the single edit tab, or two edit tabs?
Strange (or weird) that it's intended for it applies to only those using the CodeMirror mode but not for ones not using it. Ah well, close it if you wish.

Hmm... Somehow, the text duplication issue seems fixed. Indeed, when I entered some words and then hit "Enter", another line no longer duplicates the text from the previous one.
I tried finding any other bugs, but I found no other at the moment.
