• Gathered feedback from stakeholder and Research team testers of the survey draft, made a codebook for the survey with strategic mapping of the questions, began working on a resource end-page for survey respondents.

Update August 1, 2025:

• Reader foundational research: v2 survey responses have been team-coded; analysis of responses and session data continues. Preliminary framework based on OE surveys to be shared with stakeholders next week.
• Survey support desk: discovered an issue with the SMTP email setup for Qualtrics, working with SRE to get it fixed for the upcoming Readers Diary study
• Understanding mentorship experiences: stakeholder requests & suggestions in the newcomers survey draft are being incorporated into a revised questionnaire; qualitatively explored a small random sample of editors who fit the survey target population to better understand what kinds of questions make sense to ask and what sorts of patterns of behavior and dynamics the larger group might have
• AI use cases write-up:
  • Discussing with @Miriam where to publish this work.

Due to the deprioritzation of this work by stakeholders (see T377264), survey analysis will focus on estimating the prevalence of patrolling activities among highly-active editors and prioritized (or not) as part of Essential Work.

I'll be deactivating this survey (based on the slack conversation here).

Update: We currently have collected 15 total responses (13 completes). I'll be sharing some preliminary analysis internally, but will hold off on sharing anything here until we have more responses.

In our experience with the smaller projects (T389401): 15,023 impressions yielded 478 self-identified patrollers (out of 726 survey respondents) or 3% of impressions. If we extrapolate from that and from assumptions about the relative share of patrollers in this population:

• Moderator Tools Support: deployment of the Patroller Tools survey has run into another unanticipated roadblock as there was no deployment train this week. We now anticipate deployment next week. (T389401)

• Centralizing Contributions: We wrapped up scoping in the research brief and are now planning the discussion guide, screener, and recruitment strategy..
• Metrics on Patrolling Work: Academic and WMF literature was reviewed. A meeting with colleagues working on the Edit Check was held to discuss common interests and potential collaborations.

Drafting is underway under the current (described above) scope.
