@GoranSMilovanovic Okay, so the missing tag is no problem in detecting the page views, only in finding the user registrations?

@GoranSMilovanovic No worries :-) we can focus on https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T251535#6132281 for tonight
@GoranSMilovanovic @Addshore So if we want to track user registrations and editing behavior in wikidata, commons, wiktionary and wikivoyage the patch would need to be activated for those as well?
@GoranSMilovanovic
Oh okay, what does this mean? Is there another way to get the data on user registrations? Or do we have to change something else in order to get the tag into the table? Is it the same problem we had in the last autumn banner campaign or is maybe the patch from Adam not in place anymore?
@GoranSMilovanovic Since we are targeting only logged in users this is not necessary, we are lucky here :-)
@GoranSMilovanovic Could you also check if you find page views for our landing pages: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wikimedia_Deutschland/DeinEngagement
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Wikimedia_Deutschland/DeinEngagement/Literatur
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Mentorenprogramm
in the database?
Yes, when I click on a link with campaign tag leading to Commons the page is displayed normally: https://commons.wikimedia.org/?campaign=WMDE_2020_challenge_7 Is that what you mean by checking if the links work?
@GoranSMilovanovic Thank you for checking! This is weird though... the URL is https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Willkommen (without "?"), is this maybe the reason? If not, what other reasons could explain the problem here and can we do something about it?

@kai.nissen @GoranSMilovanovic This is great, thank you!
I would say we are ready to go.
I produced page views and accounts in all projects:
@GoranSMilovanovic
Great, thank you.
@GoranSMilovanovic Great, thank you. The link above was a e-mail link, so you should also have the page view right? But to make sure I produced another page view in Wikidata: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Introduction/de?campaign=WMDE_2020_challenge_10
@GoranSMilovanovic
So I did a user registration through the following campaign tag and landingpage: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spezial:Benutzerkonto_anlegen?campaign=WMDE_2020_challenge_5
User: Test E-Mail Campaign 2020 1
@GoranSMilovanovic
Hi Goran, sorry I forgot to update you: we changed the timeline, the campaign will start this Thursday, May 14th. I will do a tracking test now and get back to you.

@Addshore
Hi Adam,
thanks for getting back to us! This is the phab ticket, I hope this clarifies the problem?

@kai.nissen
Hi Kai,
after talking to Martin about the targeting of edits in article name space only we decided this is too complex and we will just take any edit from all name spaces into account - hopefully making it easiear for everyone :-)

@GoranSMilovanovic
Perfect, thank you for the information! There is nothing else needed, so I will close the task now :-)

@GoranSMilovanovic
Hi Goran,
I know it's just a little thing, but could you have a quick look at this:
Mar 5 2020
Let me check if I understand correctly: the banner can be closed only once after it is extended, or not? This is important because if the answer is "yes", then our data sets can be used to extract the data for the "cross analysis" that you need, but if the answer is "no" then our data cannot be used for this type of analysis (because then we cannot establish a temporal relation: expand banner -> close_banner from the data set).
@GoranSMilovanovic
Hi Goran,
thank you! This is all superhelpful.
@tmletzko
Huhu Till,
kannst du uns hier weiterhelfen? Bezeichnet der Tag mit _link_ den Link im Text oder den Link im Button? (z. B. thx_dskt_ctrl vs. thx_link_dskt_ctrl)
Mar 3 2020
Hi Goran,
I got to the calculation of the numbers for the A/B-Test and have three more questions:
An addition concerning Chart 1.2.3.: the tag thx_link_dskt_ctrl is missing, is there a reason? And when I sum up the numbers 2 page views are missing, I get a total of 2213 instead of 2215 - maybe there is a connection? Thank you for checking!
@GoranSMilovanovic
Great, thank you!
Mar 2 2020
Great, thank you for the updates.
Feb 26 2020
@GoranSMilovanovic Thanks for letting me know!
@GoranSMilovanovic
Hi Goran,
one other question has come up about the page views. I was wondering if the numbers in the spreadsheet are correct? Because for example on some days, there are no page views from desktop (e.g. 5th of January) and this does not seem very probable and also the report states otherwise, if I see the numbers correctly. Could you update the numbers in the spreadsheet as well? I need them to calculate the results from the A/B-Test.... thank you!
Feb 24 2020
@GoranSMilovanovic
Hi Goran,
I will take over the wrap-up of the campaign from Janina. I am checking all the documents and the final report and trying to understand all the details, but some questions have come up. Could you help me on those? Thank you!
Feb 13 2020
@GoranSMilovanovic Hi Goran, Janina is out of office until the end of February. Does it have time until then? Otherwise: Could you quickly give me an update or link on what the open questions are?
Feb 7 2020
@GoranSMilovanovic Great thank you! I will close the task now for good :-)
Jan 27 2020
@GoranSMilovanovic great, thank you for the update!
Jan 20 2020
@GoranSMilovanovic Okay, great! I am really looking forward to the web page but since this project is on the way for quite some time now (due to lack of time on our side) I would prefer to have the updated report also. When checking results again in two years this will help to prevent confusion about differing numbers or something like this...
@GoranSMilovanovic Great, thank you! I think this is all now :-) Could you include the new data in the final report so we have a final version with all the available data? This would be great and has no priority, just for documentation this is important.
Jan 18 2020
@GoranSMilovanovic Great, thank you!
Jan 17 2020
@GoranSMilovanovic Okay, thank you! Sorry I missed the other spreadsheet.
@GoranSMilovanovic Great, thank you so much! This helps a lot, especially the info about the training modules (and yes you're right about that we have not enough data...). I have one question regarding the edit numbers:
Jan 16 2020
@GoranSMilovanovic Hi Goran, one question about the final report, part 4.3 Completed Training Modules and User Edits. How can I understand these figures, the 1 resp. 13 edits are the summarized edits of all users, that completed the respective training module right?
@GoranSMilovanovic Hi Goran, what just comes to my mind: if we had registrations until December 19th (which is super interesting in itself), we should also again check the edits of the new users for two weeks after the last registration. That would be Januare 2nd). If we only track the edits of the new accounts until two weeks after the campaign we might miss some. Could you have a look at this? Thank you!
@GoranSMilovanovic Okay, that is perfectly fine, I need them by tomorrow morning.
In T235839#5809264, @GoranSMilovanovic wrote:@Christine_Domgoergen_WMDE The pageviews thing will take a while, sorry - it's just that the code needs to search through a lot of data and was hitting heavy against the cluster resources, so I had to switch it to search day by day through October and November 2019. I will be reporting back as soon as I have something.
@GoranSMilovanovic Oh great, thank you for checking again with the registrations!! This is really helpful, also the csv :-) Thanks also for checking the page views again!
Nov 27 2019
@GoranSMilovanovic @Tim_WMDE @gabriel-wmde
Hello everyone,
how can we get the data we recorded with this schema? Thank you!
Hi Goran, great, thank you. I do not know, how the late onset might affect the tracking of the page views... this is strange and I will note that for next time. I had assumed that it doesn't make a difference...
@GoranSMilovanovic Great, thank you!
Nov 25 2019
@GoranSMilovanovic Hi Goran, thank you for investigating. Are you sure that the edit numbers are correct now? Because it is so much less than in the other campaigns and I am wondering if there are still some missing due to the difficulties in reporting?
Nov 19 2019
@GoranSMilovanovic
Hi Goran, we have some small and hopefully easy tracking task for the autumn banner campaign left. Please have a look and let me know, if you have any questions. We would only need two weekly reports for this, no high priority. Thank you!
Nov 18 2019
@GoranSMilovanovic Great, this is super helpful - thank you!
Nov 14 2019
@GoranSMilovanovic Great, thank you. One question: would it be a lot of effort to put all the data from this campaign in one spreadsheet? This is so much easier to work with for us...
@GoranSMilovanovic Great, thank you!
Great, thank you.
FYI @Merle_von_Wittich_WMDE
Nov 6 2019
@GoranSMilovanovic Great, thank you! Registrations are indeed looking good :-) Last year we got some data also in a spreadsheet, didn't we? Would this be possible also?
Nov 5 2019
@tmletzko No, AT/CH stay with 80%
Nov 4 2019
@GoranSMilovanovic
Hi Goran, do you have any data yet? We have a meeting on the campaign data soon and some data would be very helpful :-) Thank you!
@GoranSMilovanovic Great, thank you! And yes, please track the edits for both of the campaigns, also the follow-up would be good for the social media campaign as well.
@GoranSMilovanovic
Hi Goran, could you maybe check again once in two weeks, if we had any further registrations? We don't need daily reports till then!
Nov 1 2019
Hi @Tim_WMDE,
great thank you also for the new campaigns! Are the new campaigns somehow connected to the central notice request? Because the request we need to show that we got also got the campaign approved, right?
Okay, great, thank you for the update! @GoranSMilovanovic @Tim_WMDE Does it work now?
Oct 31 2019
Okay, thank you for the information and for fixing this!
Great, thank you everyone! @GoranSMilovanovic Can you now get the impression data or do you need anything else?
@GoranSMilovanovic @Tim_WMDE @Addshore
Okay, thank you for checking Goran. How could this be solved, do you have any idea @Tim_WMDE @Addshore ?
@Tim_WMDE Hi Tim, you talked to Till about the banner diet for campaign 1, right? So imo we can just do 75% for the first three days to avoid you having to work on the weekend. Can you change the setup accordingly?
Oct 30 2019
@GoranSMilovanovic @Tim_WMDE @Addshore Great about page views and user registrations! Thanks for investigating into the banner impressions.
@GoranSMilovanovic @Tim_WMDE Okay, how can we find out why the data is not (found) in the database? Who can investigate and how?
@GoranSMilovanovic Hi Goran, here are the other test accounts:
@GoranSMilovanovic great! Two questions:
@GoranSMilovanovic I used the first tag ?campaign=WMDE_neweditors_autumn_2019_bnr, coming from the test banner. This "(Test Banner Autumn 2019 01)" is no campaign tag but the name of the test account.
Oct 29 2019
@Tim_WMDE Great thank you! I cannot see the Banner setup, but I guess it is fine. Test banner looks nice.
Okay. I am confused, because last time we did a successful tracking test before Central Notice was live. Was last year's tracking test only about registrations or could you see impression data as well?
Oct 24 2019
@Tim_WMDE Hi Tim, will we have different banner names for the two campaigns? Will this be relevant for tracking, e.g. because the data will be stored separately in the database for each campaign?
Oct 22 2019
@Tim_WMDE Hi Tim, thank you! Goran says we would also need to store the type of interaction (closing the banner or click on the banner). Could you add this?
@Tim_WMDE
Hi Tim,
here are the images:

Hi @Tim_WMDE, I asked the agency to provide the images and will link them here as soon as I get them...
@Jan_Dittrich Hi Jan, no it is for Goran but I chose the wrong name of the task...
