Hello @Tchanders, for me, as an administrator, in my daily usage of the screen, the main problem is the impossibility to change value once the widget looses focus. The other thing is that the design of the component suggests that we can enter several elements like tags (because of the small cross button), but in fact, you can only enter one element. It is pretty confusing.
As long as one can copy / paste and modify as easily as in a standard input box, any solution should be okay.

Hello @Tchanders and @GMikesell-WMF , in my opinion, the user experience is still bad in comparison to the standard input box. When the widget looses focus, it automatically becomes read only and cannot be used anymore. This is really annoying.

Hello @Tchanders, yes you're right. I did't specify the full use case.
Yes I'm arriving on the block page from the contributions list of an IP, so the page URL is Special:Block/<someIPaddress> and the IP text field is already filled with the IP and cannot be changed. You have to remove it and type it again manually.
Moreover, it is impossible to select the IP address to copy/paste in the field because when you try to select it with mouse it starts a drag & drop of the IP, double click does't select neither. It is not possible either to use keyboard for selection in that widget.

Hello I'm not sure if I'm in the right place but I noticed today a change on the Special:Block page : it is not possible to type in the IP field on block page. It was very useful and often used to add a subnet mask (like /64 for IPV6 or /24 for IPV4) on the right of the IP address. It is not possible anymore with this new widget. This is pretty annoying. Do you think it is possible to fix this ?
For info, I'm on French Wikipedia using Vivaldi browser.

After more tests at home, I think you pretty much broke the Block page.
