Thank you so much both of you! Answers all my questions.

The username would look the same as the Alert notification for both temp and standard accounts, but possibly we will change the avatar icon for whatever temp account user icon is determined where the user page link appears as a secondary action. I believe we should explore this as part of the UI modifications for temp account notifications (along with removing links to preferences).
Sorry @Dreamy_Jazz! Not sure how to attach an image to task so uploading again and hoping it works

The message is a warning about unregistered users
wikilove-anon-warning: Note: This user is not registered, he or she may not notice this message.
do we want to show this message for temporary users as well?
Slightly unrelated, sorry!
I was reading the documentation on Mentions and I understand that Echo manages them and they are not part of a discussion tool or MediaWiki. I wanted to understand - apart from the usual link to the user's page (or the ping template) is there something different about mentions in how they'll be made for temporary users, or how they'll look once they've been posted?

Per discussion with @Tchanders, this reverses some of T324719: In Special:Block, hide IP addresses associated with a temporary account, if there are too many

Thanks for all the input folks! We'll be posting these options in the next community updates on Meta and are hoping to get some more feedback there.

If the decision was to allow it for all banners, we'd be able to make one change that would enable it on all banners (including Special:Permalink, where the yellow box occupies the same space as a banner, technically speaking). If we only wanted it on Special:Permalink we'd need to implement something custom for this page, which we should avoid unless we have to.
I meant X to be whatever the policy for data retention would be 90 or 180 days, not the actual time elapsed since the purge.

It does seem like there would be considerable visual noise if styled as a button, but I think that represents the amount of extra functionality that we'd be adding. I think this page is already complicated by the expanding rows and the IP reveal buttons, and I think adding another way of interacting here could make it too complicated. I think adding "2 more" as text would be informative enough, although...
Thanks for cleaning up the table @Niharika and the numbers @Milimetric :)

I think it's fine if we don't highlight usernames in the revert comments. @Prtksxna thoughts?
Agreed.
Thanks for describing the possible error messages @Tchanders. I think for the first four which would happen because of bugs (or cases when things changed after the page has loaded, user got blocked etc) we could just show 'error' how we show 'unavailable'.
In T331369#8739791, @AGueyte wrote:How do we feel this feature would fit with the upcoming task about reveal all IPs in one click? T327946
Hey @Tchanders sorry about the confusion. I mean to say that this yellow rectangle is NOT banner, at least not semantically. I think we should show the "Show IP" button here and reveal the particular IP that made the edit.
Mar 27 2023
The usage of the yellow rectangle on the permalink page doesn't seem like a banner or notice (semantically). It seems like UI information that happens to be in a yellow box. I see what you're saying about figuring out what we should do about banners, I've created a different T333115: IP Masking: Should we show the "Show IP" button on banners for this.
@RHo The em dash might not throw any issues technically or visually, but I think people might have trouble typing — on a standard keyboard. And they might need to do it on Talk pages, while making blocks or when filtering logs.

We'll do gray everywhere, but there will be exceptions like the personal bar. So, as we had discussed, lets use this task to put it everywhere and I'll file separate tasks for exceptions.
The personal bar would only be seen by the temp user themselves and so it doesn't need to have a background. That is what we have in the mocks so far.

A question to think about that came up during design review today:
Mar 15 2023
Trying to map out the different scenarios based on @Niharika's inputs and @GMikesell-WMF's screenshots. Its a bit complex but I think this covers all the use-cases.
Mar 14 2023
- The user input label in the screenshot says "Username, temporary username, or IP range", but this doesn't make sense on wikis where temp accounts are not enabled. What should we do?
- Similar question about how we should update the placeholder
Mar 13 2023
I don't understand why we want "and one more" instead of "x2".

Does it mean the information should be seen only by the "ipinfo-view-full" rights?
Or "ipinfo-view-basic" can also see it?

We should look into these before starting work (added to description). Note, not planning to pick this up any time soon.
Nov 7 2022
The work that we need for IP Info is limited to getting global contribs for unregistered editors only, but I am guessing this can be expanded if there is need for such functionality from another team.
Nov 4 2022
We have the answer, yep.
Per Tran's investigation IP info is visible to those who can see the deleted edits.
Nov 3 2022
We considered this, but decided against it because a temp account might be on a public computer, and there is no way we could verify that edits that are being claimed are actually this users'. It would be really cool if there was a way to do this though, might even incentivize editors! (also see temp copy in F34937610 from T300269)

@STran helped me understand this a bit better, they also pointed me to this table https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Range_blocks#Table_of_sample_ranges.
Hey @STran, I've added the designs, could you update the error message, making it clearer why this is happening and how one could solve it? (talk to admin? or the person who configured the wiki?)
Met with @STran and got some answers

Thanks for talking a quick look at this ticket @santhosh! Could you please evaluate the different approaches mentioned in T266273#8184182 and see if the Wikidata approach would make sense for our use case.
