I think the mailing lists and Tech News can be considered having announced it in advance. Were it a wiki seeing a lot of traffic, or we were expecting more than a couple of minutes of downtime, that might change things, but I think this should be enough for now.

To be very clear we're talking about the same thing, by "Wikitech" we're just referring to wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/ here and nothing else right?

Tech News might normally be a bit overkill for Wikitech being down for a couple of minutes (I'd recommend wikitech-l and a few short posts to a couple of technical wiki pages, in that case), but since there's already an item about Commons, we can just merge the two into one item and have this one tag along. It'll go out on Monday 25 January.

@Nikerabbit Excellent. Happy to continue testing the send a page functionality as soon as that works, too.

@Nikerabbit Makes sense. Will we in that case also move the "send as page" content above the text box in delivery, so there's an easy way to do so?

@Nikerabbit If possible, I think it'd be helpful if these were two separate options. One sometimes wants to add a timestamp to a newsletter without a personal signature.

I'm on it. I'm assuming this would also affect MassMessage where it's used locally, e.g. on English Wikipedia, and not just on Meta?

Wrote to a number of people on Meta who have used the tool in recent months, pinged Legoktm as a MassMessage developer and emailed the wikitech-ambassadors-list.

@Samwalton9 This has been tagged for inclusion for Tech News (using the user-notice tag), but my best guess is that it's simply because it was included in the parent task, rather than this is a suggestion for something you want announced? Removing the tag. If I'm mistaken, please re-introduce the tag and add a rough suggestion for a text in Tech News, one to three sentences long?

My preference would be to have something like two checkboxes, one for the username signature of the sender (not the bot delivering) and one for the timestamp, which would be a significant improvement of the tool in general and very helpful for those who don't use it very often and forget they can't sign by ~~~~. It's confusing and difficult.

OK, thanks for the heads-up – I don't think a couple of minutes of Ehterpad read-only is enough of a problem to be included in Tech News, but appreciate the tag. Rather remove it ten times than miss the one thing I should have included.

Not familiar with all the databases – is Etherpad the only user-facing thing being affected here? There'll be no other potential disruptions?

Asking for Tech News purposes to make sure I don't misunderstand anything: The link anchors are being implemented on all "code pages", e.g. .js and .css pages, but no other pages, correct? <syntaxhighlight> tags are not actually really relevant here, no matter what the task title says?

I'll use this for my next delivery (and deliveries, unless there's a blocker, of course) and will evaluate as soon as I can. Thank you for you work!
