@bd808 I find that there are some repeated files in the folder. That was my attempt to deduplicate them in order to make the upload process more efficient. I will just let the upload script work smoothly. Sorry for any troubles caused.

Metadata of these files are not well-structured. I was managing to tidy them up so that template fields can be filled properly and appropriate categories can be created, which makes me frustrated. This is the reason why I leave them there so long.

One of the core principles we follow these days is collateral damage. That is, we assume the GFW won't cut the Internet in whole since it is essential for academic research, foreign trades and so on. I have deleted the stale logs. The 20k PDF are public domain books to be uploaded to Commons. I think it would take a few more days to complete.

As suggested by @Midleading, I switched to pywikibot from mwclient. The stability when uploading files of GiB magnitude has improved substantially, under async mode.

Sometimes, after failed uploads, I got [...] 202?-??-?? ??:??:??: Fatal exception of type "Wikimedia\RequestTimeout\RequestTimeoutException when accessing [[c:Special:UploadStash]]. I suppose it might be related.

I am afraid it is not easy to rearrange the upload script since it depends on some PDF libraries that are infeasible to modify.
