I would be happy to help, however it appears there is a slight issue with the font used for Simple English.

I'm quite happy to help out with this task, but due to time restrictions, will only be able to work on a couple (likely 1-3) logos at a time, so if anyone feels like jumping in, please do.

I'm not exactly sure whether the "Wikimedia" in the logo refers to the Wikimedia Foundation (who use the black-only logo) or the Wikimedia movement (who still use the RGB logo?), so I'll let someone who knows the details make the call here.

I'm posting this comment from a laptop with a HiDPI screen, and I can see that the favicon displayed within any given Wikipedia tab on Google Chrome looks just fine.

This task is invalid; the Wikipedia "W" favicon has had three layers (16x16 pixels, 32x32 pixels and 48x48 pixels) for at least two years now.

No, that patch hasn't touched that favicon at all. QS uses the main Wikidata favicon from here, and I haven't had anything to do with that file for a few years now.
