Background information from September 2020, when mass uploads (~100,000) at the Russian Wikinews caused problems: https://ru.wikinews.org/wiki/Викиновости:Форум/Общий/Архив/2020#DynamicPageList

- The only scenario where you need to do that is when you're blocked and requesting to be unblocked (because you're not able to edit any other page while blocked). Depending on the wiki, you might be supposed to use a template when doing this (e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Unblock, it adds your talk page to a category that people watch and will see the edit), so it might be more awkward to do in our default visual mode.

Enwiki has the opposite preference, because of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#Non-breaking_spaces (which technically applies only to the mainspace, but editors are used to it).

About the wording "This page is public and anyone on Wikipedia has access to it."
From the cswiki discussion: One user (GeXeS) is against and he said: " 'Helpful' editing modes don't suit me, I don't find them functionally beneficial […] So it's more of a formal and individual voice." Most users support deploying, they also said it is good mainly for new users.

(The Editing team isn't using the 'priority' field this year. Changing it has no practical effect.)

@iamjessklein, I like what see in the PatchDemo link.
About If this is your page, log in to start creating the page. I believe that it's easy to link to the login page, and that it _might_ be possible to only show this line to people who are not logged in.
@Whatamidoing-WMF can you say more about this? I know we discussed it but I'm having some trouble remember what the button would actually say.

I have a confirmed e-mail address on the Beta Cluster, and – after I remembered to go to https://en.wikipedia.beta.wmflabs.org/wiki/Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-echo and turn on e-mail notifications for "Talk page subscription" – I immediately received an e-mail notification triggered by an edit from my other account.
I have received requests from the Swedish and Venetian Wikipedias (svwiki and vecwiki) to be added to the first group.

I might want a second button, so I can make non-section edits to an empty/red-linked page. Look at this edit (creates a redirect) and this one (copying content from another page) to see two reasons why editors might do this.

This seems to have been resolved, presumably by some other patch/the consequence of some other work.

Yes, that's the goal. There is no timeline for when the work might be done.

@ppelberg , this is done. All seven of the communities we've talked to would like to have this feature.

@DannyS712, I agree that it would be nice if the behaviors matched. Which behavior do you think is the better approach? (What I personal want is: whatever gets saved in the /* edit summary section */, clicking on that in the page history will take me to the right section on the page.)

Quick note: I think this might be useful for French Wikipedia, MediaWiki.org, and Meta-Wiki, as well as arwiki, cswiki, and any of the interested partners from previous projects.
- "Why do the wikis we partner with sometimes vary from feature-to-feature?"
In short, people and projects will identify with/value different features differently.
- Phase 1: Wikipedias that have already been done (arwiki, cswiki, huwiki)
- Phase 2: Wikipedias that participated in the A/B test (including frwiki)
- Phase 3: Small-to-medium Wikipedias, plus all single-language non-Wikipedias (e.g., the Wikiquotes and Wikivoyages)
- Phase 4: Multi-lingual projects: Wikidata, Commons, Meta-Wiki, mw.org, etc.
- Phase 5: Remaining large Wikipedias (English, German, Spanish, and Japanese; maybe Russian and Portuguese)

The usual method (outlined in PPelberg's comment) wasn't working for me for the ~two weeks before I filed this bug report, but it started working on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:THURSDAY

Mismatched user names
In April 2021, we sent messages about mismatched account names to 140 editors with custom signatures. A spot check of 16 editors from the larger Wikipedias showed that 25% of people had corrected the problem two weeks later. There were no questions or comments from these editors. Many of the editors with this problem do not edit frequently, so it is likely that some editors will correct their signatures later.
Nobody seems to have found examples of this being desirable, and nobody seems inclined to defend it. I think we can close this task and proceed with implementing it whenever it seems convenient.
On Kaldari's suggestion to substitute a localized date, I think that harms translation efforts. It might be nice to see 2021. április 19. in the wikitext for your article, but it is not nice to have to turn that into 19 April 2021 or 19 avril 2021 or 2021年4月19日 later.

editors will inevitably write 2011-12 when they mean 2011-2012. There is no way to tell if 2011-12 means 2011-2012 or December 2011. So it is an error and should always be flagged as such.

I've long wondered how often people add |alt= text. (I've been hoping that VisualEditor's design encourages it.) I don't know if measuring that is a goal for your project, but you might consider it.
