The plugin has been modified so that if a user attempts to login with a Wikimedia account that has the same email, but a different username, as a Wikimedia account a user has previously used to login with, the login will fail, showing the user an error message that reads "Your Wikimedia email is associated with an existing account". The developer has also updated the check that looks at whether a Wikimedia email is associated with an existing account to use the user’s Central ID instead of their username, which prevents issues arising from usernames changing.

As stated, the plugin currently doesn't attempt to view real name, and advancement on T151515: authonlyprivate OAuth grant should not mention real name when the wiki does not allow them means that the OAuth grant is close to correctly reflecting this.

Adding Hang as a subscriber to get her take on exploring and implementing these changes.
Just a note that we may not actually need to commission this, as it is being worked on here: https://thepavilion.io/t/events-recurring-and-or-multiple-events/841/9
This is great, thanks! I saw your comment last night on https://discuss-space.wmflabs.org/t/new-tag-for-wiki-club-west/1254/3 and was so relieved to see this is already possible. We just have to update the links, look into intersections, and figure out an obvious way to allow people to add start and end parameters.

We have commissioned a Wikimedia login plugin for Discourse (via OAuth) T215052: Add MediaWiki login support to Discourse that is almost ready to be deployed on Wikimedia Space. The plugin does not attempt to read real name, but the authorization pop-up mentions real name. In addition to it being misleading, we have reason to believe this could be triggering for some users (many probably won't recall that they never provided a real name to Wikimedia).

Thanks. In terms of making usernames uniform, even for those who used the Phabricator login method (and were allowed to create whatever username they'd like), would a good approach be to change the user's Discourse username to their Wikimedia username upon their first login with OAuth? (Sorry just dropped this here, may have been better for another related discussion but I figured I had your attention!)
@Tgr the developer has added a fix: "Prevent the realname property returned by wikimedia from being used in Discourse" and has also added additional text to the create account modal that allows anyone to input their realname/alternative name if they'd like.
Two questions from the Discourse developer pertaining to this:
With help from @hdothiduc , this should now be resolved.
Users should also be able to filter events by date and within a given date range.

It's currently pulling from Rails format, which can be overridden in the admin interface. Have to figure out how to get only the desired information to appear.
Closing task as I think this note resolves it.
Okay, I think this makes sense. We will just need to publicize when closed groups/categories are electing their own moderatorship that the selected moderator will be bumped to a TL4 in order to give them all necessary tools for effective moderation, so that those nominating and electing understand the implications.

Date text has been improved to MMM-D for easier reading in cases where M-D is not the norm. Working on shortening reference to local user's timezone. Option to remove mention of the timezone all together exists.

The redirect is currently not working in Chrome, Safari or Firefox. Only the navigation bar is visible.

Distribution is clear. I will plan to post a new topic about this within the few days (I have just made another big feedback ask on the forum so would like to wait a bit).

Space and Discourse-MediaWiki TOU pages are now updated to reflect the verbiage and link approved by Legal.

I am not entirely sure this should take precedence. Depending on what other requests we get, this may or may not fall in the package of 10 hours we've asked for. This is why I've left it in the backlog for now.
I believe this should have priority within the package of 10 additional hours we've requested in this upcoming contract. So, I'd say yes.

The developer has begun work on this, and is pursuing implementing the existing Wikimedia OmniAuth Strategy in Discourse.
Looks great. Where do you envision the request for feedback from Space users to fit in? Would the topic we discussed posting be used to help build the list of emerging community organizers?

The suggestion to print on the back was actually my idea, Hang was able to find a company that does this. It's fine with me if you want to forego printing on the back of the sticker, but it was my suggestion for how to get information about what Space is and how to join in a way that wouldn't clutter the design of the sticker. And yes, it would generate less waste than printing a card or flyer in parallel that will just be thrown away. If you have another suggestion for how to incorporate this info into the materials, no problem.
It appears to be resolved to me as well.

I am finalizing the temporary Terms of Use text with Legal for Space. Once completed, I will copy it to Discourse-MediaWiki.
María is going to be the point person on materials and distribution of those materials at Wikimania. Elena will support.

Spoke with Hang about different ideas. We agreed that a sticker would be more pragmatic than a card or another simple type of material. Not only are they more fun for participants, but they have the added value of compounding awareness of the program when displayed publicly, and future iterations of stickers could serve for collection purposes. This sticker will be the original, with future stickers getting more complex/branded.
