+1 Through the support email:
Hello! I use Wikipedia quite often, mostly just for leisurely research purposes. I love to browse random topics and fall down rabbit-holes in my spare time, and more often than not i’ve found myself wishing there was a feature that allowed me to highlight (or quote) segments of an article. This feature would be private, of course, my quotes or highlights only being visible to me. It would also be helpful if accessing them was possible through my saves. Thank you in advance for considering my request, and thank you to all of those who make Wikipedia accessible! The world needs it now more than ever.

+1 new report through the support email:
In my saved articles, I am unable to remove any once I am finished with them. I am trying to clean up my saved articles but I once I remove them, I go back into the app and they are still there. Is there something I can do to resolve this issues?

@HNordeenWMF , Sure, I will update the ticket if we receive similar tickets as well.

Add a bookmark or highlighter; it would be great to be able to take your own notes in the app. I hope the head of Wikipedia hears me.

The user reported it's working now, it wasn't working till almost two days ago with them.
Thank you for clarifying, the user assured it's still happening to them.
Hello, @Prototyperspective ,
have you noticed the “Share reading list” feature currently available in the app? It allows users to export and share the articles saved in a reading list. Could you let us know if this helps with your use case?

Received an email from a user with: Version: WikipediaApp/7.8.8.5909 (iOS 17.7.1; Phone) on the 18th of January.
"The hitbox to close tabs is way too small, so it’s nearly impossible to close them."
Opening the ticket, based on conversation on Slack with Haley and Tais.
We received a number of reports recently through the support email:
+1 user through the support email:
User reports inaccurate “Time spent reading this month” metric (jumped from ~4 hours to ~45 hours after a short reading session; user estimates actual total should be ~7 hours).

I’ve asked the user to send a screen-recorded video.
Once we receive the video, I’ll share the details so we can see which case it is.
We received a similar +1 report:

There was this conversation on Slack between Haley, Tais and me about approaching this point and investigating more since we received a number of support emails questions\bug.
Copied from Haley based on the reports:

We’ve continued to receive recent user feedback indicating that closing tabs remains difficult due to the small touch target.
Reported on:
WikipediaApp/7.8.8.5909 (iOS 16.7.12; Phone)
For emails received during Dec. 2025:
We’ve received multiple reports and feature requests asking for more control over how the app opens, specifically the ability to choose between:
Opening on the Explore feed
Opening on a new tab
Notably, it's opening now on the last reading article, and it’s the behavior most users are complaining about. Many describe it as jarring, especially when they intentionally return to Explore before closing the app.
+1 from the support email with a new option:
Would it be possible to add a setting to always open the app to a new tab and/or open links (like from Firefox) in a new tab?

Done.
