Dear applicants,
Oct 25 2024
You did very good, @GonzaGertrude! Your LGBTQ+ organisations in Africa choice really helps us to have some insights on the situation there. The LGBTQ+ rights list also looks fine, even with the continent limitation, and I like the edits you made to both.
@Jatinder190124 @vaYshaleee great improvements!
Thanks for the work, everyone! Most of you are ready to go (but you can keep interacting and working on other tasks, obviously).

@Ummmritaaa check the general feedback I gave here as well as some individual tips I presented to others in case you want to improve your research.
I'd like to thank everyone who came to the meetings and shared their stories. It was really helpful for us to get to know you a little better.

Good job everyone, this task is now resolved.

I really like seeing you experimenting with the tools, it's an effective way to gain practical knowledge.
Thanks for the edits @Alcantaramel :)

Hi everyone. Here is some general feedback as all of you could do some of the same improvements. First, the descriptions are more on the generic side (please read the comment I left on the main Phabricator task a few days ago). I would suggest you include better descriptions, images or even experiment with the tools yourselves and report what you experienced. I would also like to see some examples of where or who used it before so we could have some idea of how it could be implemented.

I would suggest you include better descriptions, images or even experiment with the tools yourselves and report what you experienced. I did this with Jitsi during my internship and it was really valuable. You don't have to describe everything in topics to match the task description, as it is expected that not all of those tools would have answers to all of our questions and needs.
Good edits!
Hi there everyone!

Hello everyone! I would like to thank all the applicants that have showed interest or contributed to our project until now. We are working on a few more tasks to add whithin the next days, so stay tuned for more work and please talk to us and share your questions and thoughts in the meantime.
Hi everyone! I admire your enthusiasm, but please bear in mind that in the main task I asked you to pick initially one task so others could have the chance too.
Hi @Jatinder190124. Thanks for your contribution. Although it is right, it could be less copy and paste from the 2023 edition. In regards to that, please remove links to Volunteer info, Nodes and such, as we don't have those pages for 2025 yet. Also take off the schedule and the contact e-mail.

Hi @GonzaGertrude. Thanks for your edit, it looks pretty good!
Hello @vaYshaleee, @Jatinder190124, and others. Welcome to the QW2025 Outreachy project. I have created separate subtasks for each microtask to maintain a well-organized and easily accessible scope of what applicants are working on during this contribution period.

I uploaded a SVG version of QW 2023 logo on Commons (I made the "2023 Conference" font a little bit thinner, I think the first version was too bold): https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Queering_Wikipedia_2023_logo.svg

Yesterday I updated blogpost #2 with PT translation.
@frederic_ed @Zblace I started a Wikispore page gathering all information I have found about podcast production. I still have to test some features such as WordPress for distribution, but as of right now the FLOSS recording and editing options seems really good. At the bottom of the page I also added some issues that we might have to consider.
I contacted the WIKIMOVE team via e-mail. As of right now, I'm seeing a lot of open source options for all the steps (recording, editing and publishing), which seems really good. I'm thinking about starting a page to document my research and what I've found in a more organized way.

Yesterday we had a translation workshop where I learned the basics of translation on Wikimedia. Today I had a brief meeting with mentor @OwenBlacker to comprehend more about it and I posted my first translations for Portuguese and Spanish on blogpost #1 (#2 is coming soon). I also started drafting the next blogpost, "Think About Your Audience".

Done! Please tell me if I missed any applications/tools that should be added. I still will update the matrix table.
Updated the Wikimedia LGBT+ section on the FLOSS Exchange page: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/FLOSS-Exchange#Wikimedia_LGBT+
I added more info on the End user minimum tech requirements page: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/WikiProject_remote_event_participation/End_user_minimum_tech_requirements

I did the first edit on our FLOSS use and will update the matrix soon. Should I also document the proprietary applications we use?
