The crash is caused by missing authorization configuration in the ldap config block (I tried to document it in the wiki), unfortunately, after creating a block config with the authorization section there are the undefined index errors for both the uid and the cn, so the issue is sitll present.

After enabling the debug I could find that the issue was on the second bind, the one that is verifying the user credentials. Would it be possible to add the username in this error message? Without looking into debug mode, one couldn't differentiate if the issue was in the bind user (used for the initial bind) of the login user (the one we want to verify)

After installing the module and enabling it, I'm moving further :)
I think that the misleading part of the documentation was here because it only refers to the authorization plugin, maybe that could be reworded to be clear for newcomers
