A couple of helpful pointers here for GSOC students trying to solve this microTask. Since this task is old couple of things change slightly, just the nomenclature though, the idea and essence remain the same.

I am a seasoned forum owner and user. Have used all php based forum software infact was doing my GSOC last year for phpBB.
I must admit that I am not a seasoned Rails dev but I can get by, I would definitely love to help with regards to this migration.
I actually wrote a YAML based migration tool for phpBB I felt I could be of some help if thats okay.

@Reasno - That unfortunate poached student might be me. Since the project is not in GSOC, I shall be trying to complete it along with my other GSOC project. Thankyou @Yaron_Koren and others for the support and help during this period.
I would definitely love contributing to Wikimedia, but unfortunately I would have to first give time with my GSOC project but I will definitely try to do this as well.

Thankyou Mvolz, I have submitted the proposal. I would like to take this oppurtunity to thank such a friendly and nice community which gave me such a great learning experience.
Especially a huge thanks to my mentor Yaron, who always guided me. I would really look forward to working with Yaron and learning a lot more and I hope to see myself involved with Mediawiki for the future.

Hi Yaron I was in contact and in touch with Nischay Nahata and rageross regarding this project. I'm sorry it took me time to find you. I had emailed Srishti about it. I have worked with AG Grid and JS Grid before during my internship I do hope you could consider me as well. Thanks Yaron.
