to @Tgr I suggest to close this task and create another one, with request to fix the Hungarian date order from D-M-Y to Y-M-D. That shouldn't be hard to fulfill

please reopen, as this is not a duplicate. The other task is wrong, as I explained there. Generally "date" does handle localized date formats; here I am pointing out only a specific bug in handling of Italian.
This task is too generic. data-sort-type actually DOES handle localized dates. It just does not handle Hungarian correctly, probably because order settings are wrong; if you write like "1. január 2001" it works

Global default to ns2 only makes sense. Communities would request to set it anyway; I doubt anyone would request to unset it!

Same problem in many other categories. Just press "next page", then "previous page", and you don't get where you were before.

That's exactly what i said: the th are styled individually by the default wikitable class. They shouldn't, and the row should be styled instead.

Reopened, as currently there is no "urldecode" in parser functions or other magic words. If I am wrong please document it.

I definitely support Umherirrender. Every new namespace makes things a little more complex even for newbies, as they show up in namespace lists (like in searching). Please avoid an extra namespace just for definitions; only experts manage gadgets, and the can cope well with any other method.

The merged and blocked tasks have been solved by the introduction of the new PDF generation system last year.

I'm afraid that can't be done. The extension falls back to on-wiki templates if the language code is not recognized. A wiki could have a "User plain" template and its users should be able to embed it using {{#babel:plain}}.

I definitely agree, though I don't think my solution is particularly elegant. What about a '#babelplain' or '#plainbabel' parser function?

Note that a lot of pages on major wikis use babelboxes as standalone elements. This enhancement is necessary if we really want the Babel extension to replace old templates. It's a backward compatibility issue
