Hey yall. Can't help here unfortunately-- I did not code these emails. Here's the phab task for when we handed these off for coding originally.
Fri, May 28
Next sprint is fine, it's not a critical edit. This should be it for this email. If we have any other edits to other Japanese emails (I don't expect we will.. then I will make it a separate phab task). Thank you!
Thu, May 27
Sure thing. How do I submit? I thought the phab task itself was the submission heh
Makes sense & sounds good (we had added it thinking that the first edit had not already been started on, and that it would be efficient to combine-- but since it's too late no worries) Will address it in the other phab task. Thank you!
To clarify on Tomasz's note "This one is specific to the Thank You email for recurring/monthly donations in Japanese, and concerns the first sentence of the first paragraph that looks like this now"
Hi David! It's just an edit to the translation of the current Japanese Thank You email in production, in order to make the translation clearer (Seilo suggestion). Thus why we bundled it within the same phab ticket: as it's two edits to the same TY email (one is the link in the footer; one is the text in one of the first paragraphs). Please lmk if you need any additional info or context

Thank you Tomasz, that looks good to me and ready for the review by DT
Hi @krobinson ! If it's almost identical, then that sounds like a great solution :) Happy to have DayTranslations do a quick proof
Fri, May 21
Thank you Christine!! :)
May 19 2021
Thanks for the tag Sam. No issues to raise-- The message draft looks great.

Hi @Cstone ! Third and Final batch of proofing has been complete. Here are the last languages that need edits. Edits can be found in linked google doc in yellow highlight:
Apr 27 2021
Hi @DStrine ! Not resolved just quite yet. Second batch needs to be put in production (per my comment on Apr 14). And third and final batch details coming soon. Thank you!
Apr 21 2021
@TSkaff for vis. Not positive if this falls in TY email umbrella; but could you please confirm we are OK to proceed on this project from your end? In a nutshell, we are re-translating the auto recurring failure. TY!
Apr 20 2021
Noted, thank you Thea!
Thank you Kristie! I think a rewrite makes sense considering the aforementioned donor feedback in addition to Katherine's transition.
Hi @krobinson ! Tomasz is working on the updates here that pertain to localization. A few questions:
Thank you Kristie! Noted. We will translate in the following languages then:
Apr 16 2021
Thank you Michael, we can get started on this. A few inputs please:
Apr 14 2021
Awesome, thank you Christine! Those were the time sensitive batch :)
Apr 13 2021
Hi @DStrine and @Cstone, I think we can mark this phab task as done; as the Chinese footer address has been successfully updated, and we are managing final edits across all languages in this other phab task. TY !
Apr 8 2021
Thank you @Cstone ! And please let me know if you need any additional info for the corrections to en, fr, it, frCA, he, ja, esMX, and sv
Apr 7 2021
Both Tomasz and I are getting an error message when attempting to send ourselves the MK thank you email via Production Testmeister :
Edit to fr-CA :
Apr 6 2021
Quick Update: Japanese, Hebrew, Swedish, and Spanish-LATAM are currently being reviewed (WIP). Once those are reviewed and updated (along with English, French, and Italian) we can resolve this phab ticket, as our upcoming Q4, Q1, and Q2 campaigns will be covered. The remaining languages we will do the final proof on a rolling basis pre-campaign (as we have in the past) to account for any potential change in copy after Q2 due to new ED.
Apr 1 2021
One edit to the English version:
Thank you Christine!
Mar 30 2021
Hi all following up on this phab task. Pending the address change within the Chinese Thank You email footer (see https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T277779) , please feel free to push these emails to production, per Thea's email in the thread SL "[Important] New TY email logistics & timing" .
Mar 29 2021
Hi Michael! If these copy edits are officially translation requests (I am assuming they are but please do confirm if so), then I would suggest waiting to finalize these translations/edits before deploying for production (as opposed to deploying and then editing). I believe this would save fr-tech a substantial amount of time having to edit the already deployed copy in the circa 20 languages.
Mar 25 2021
Super speedy. Thank you Christine! I'll follow up on this phab task if any need edits and/or when they are ready for push to production.
Mar 24 2021
[edited] I see what you mean -- thanks @Cstone ! Could we please update that address to this one:
Mar 23 2021
Mar 18 2021
Thank you David and Christine -- really appreciate the support.

Perfect, thank you Christine! Green light for production.
Feb 25 2021
Fantastic; thank you!!
Feb 23 2021
Note that pt-Portugal is not a priority for coding. We can shelf that until prep for the Big Bundle (or whenever bandwidth allows) . Thanks!
Adding Tomasz' email here to have everything aggregated in one place:

Hi Evelyn! I ended up finding where Andy is referring to, it's the DLocal landing page that you are taken to (not on payments wiki/donate wiki) [see screenshot in the description section of this phab ticket]. As mentioned, I don't think we own that or can change that text-- that's on Dlocal's side. But please do correct me if I am wrong
Hi Andy! Thanks for this valuable feedback.
I don't believe we can change the text on DLocal's form (i.e. "tasas" "cuotas" etc)-- I believe they own that and those respective translations. Although David or Evelyn please do correct me if I am wrong.

Feb 12 2021
Thanks so much Peter! I unfortunately had a bit of a miscommunication/mix-up around this Portuguese content. Unfortunately the secondary review had not been complete when I handed off and is currently in progress. Thus it may necessitate some additional edits.

PS I will circle back with esLATAM once that is done
- Ways to Give
- Problems Donating
- Cancel/Change recurring
- Matching Gifts (I know this was noted as not necessary, but our pt-BR translators overachieved. Feel free to code or not based on your bandwidth)

No worries -- Will get translation back asap.

Two small edits please:
Jan 20 2021
@Cstone green light for production :) Thank you again!
Jan 19 2021
Awesome, thank you @Cstone !! I'll keep that in mind (RE preheader) for future language coding. Really appreciate it.
Got it, Thanks!
Looks like we don't have pt-BR for Matching gifts. Do I need to get this translated?
Will do. I am going to have all 4 pages reviewed to double check they are indeed generic and screen for any issues or missing translations. Will ping here when complete.
Jan 18 2021
I am unsure how to format a pre-header in the corresponding subject line file, thus I did not update it myself. Could you also please update the subject line file with the following:
These were intentionally translated into generic Spanish (works for both LATAM and Spain).
Looks like we have the translations for :
Jan 17 2021
Proofed, and a few updates needed, please:
Awesome, thanks Christine. Will proof and get back to you ASAP .

Thanks for the ping, John! Sounds good RE Japan. Regarding other currencies -- Where could I find the max donation amounts per country?
Dec 10 2020
Hi @jgleeson !
Good catch. Here's the translation:
Dec 2 2020
Whoops sorry yall, just got caught up on the conversation prior. Please disregard my comment above --
Dec 1 2020
Hi all! Recording for good documentation's sake that for non-English versions of the Thank you email, the translation will drop the "description of stock" variable, and we will be translating the following, simplified source text instead:
Nov 25 2020
I've added to the google doc the missing signatures for all of the 21 languages (with HTML formatting included i.e. <p> <br> etc.). The signature needs to be placed right above the last paragraph (i.e. the footer that includes the Foundation address and tax exempt number ) for each, respective language.
Nov 24 2020
My suggestion is to edit the English version copy back to the original sentence: ""Your donations show us that our work matters, and is worth supporting." Other languages do not need to be updated.
This sentence is only present in the English version. For all non-English versions, the original copy/sentence translated was "Your donations show us that our work matters, and is worth supporting."
Nov 21 2020
All variants. Original intention was just #1, #2, and #4. But since we have #3 already split out, might as well test that out too to see if the line makes any difference. However, if we have to have an odd number of variants for testing (in addition to control), then we would exclude #3.
Nov 18 2020
That's what was communicated to me, but always prudent to get additional confirmation.
Hi @DStrine! Checking up on this as we are now closer to the January send, and the emails definitely need the missing signature added at the end (for all languages). @MBeat33 any other updates that need to be made to the email/copy for this year's send?
i think we can resolve this. The monthly receipt was scrapped, and I have the TY email copy on hand!

Sep 10 2020
Sounds good, thanks for the update/explanation
Hi All, bumping my message above, as I'm still seeing capitalization when I click on original link.
Sep 9 2020
Thanks Jessica. I also tested out the flow. Starting from the WTG page, I clicked on Japanese (in the language bar), then clicked on Asia dropdown; selected Japan, and it takes me to the Japanese WTG page with language code JA. The translations display correctly. I also tried the donate link from the sidebar of the Japanese Wikipedia and the landing page displays correctly. I am stumped!
As for the Japanese translations for the strings that are still in English, they reside here (see page 42): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1OE3SZxmJM0UCH40OnDMWG4GXI-bIX3kfVLi7_-7h8C4/edit#heading=h.o4ydju6wsxr2
Hmm this is very strange. We proofed this and updated the translations back in July, as there is a comment thread on the jaJP main translation file discussing this specific landing page (as opposed to the email landing page) and that some of the translations that were originally missing (pre-campaign launch) were updated and ready to go. @Pcoombe any thoughts/ideas on how this broke?
Sep 4 2020
Following up on this: When I click on the link in the description (under "to reproduce.. open:") I'm still seeing the capitalization. Should I refer to a different link now? Please lmk so I can have Sophie proof the final version without the capitalization tag. Thanks :)
Sep 2 2020
I will check with Sophie and get back to you ASAP

Aug 19 2020
Thanks for the ping, John. I'm not familiar with how the code for exchange rate works -- deferring to Peter & Thea. @Pcoombe thoughts?
Aug 12 2020
oh woops! i got the 'm' handles mixed up. Sorry Maggie :) Anyways, that's why amount variable is intentionally missing. Thank you!
oh woops! i got the 'm' handles mixed up. Sorry Maggie :) Anyways, that's why amount variable is intentionally missing. Thank you!
Hi Michael! Do you mean the donation amount variable? It was never included in the original donor services macro that we are repurposing, thus why it is not there. If we needed to add the amount, we would have to re-translate the whole sentence for each language, because sentence structures can change depending on the language. Hope that helps.
Aug 10 2020
I do not. We haven't run LATAM since I've been at the org. I took a look in the countries and translations google drive and found translations for LATAM for fiscal years 1819, 1718, and 1516. Unfortunately none of the translation docs have unsubscribe page content included.
Quick note: I provide the translations in the MTT, I'm just not sure who does the coding!
Aug 7 2020
Hi Michael! I unfortunately do not have access to unsubscribe pages. Perhaps @Pcoombe could point you in the right direction?
Aug 4 2020
Thank you, Thea! I did not realize that :)

Jul 7 2020
Hi @DStrine ! Could you please confirm we're good to move forward considering the above? Thank you :)
Thank you, Thea. Confirming that is correct.
