Re no alt text versus default alt text other people may think differently, but I guess of the images I have added to Wikipedia articles I have written alt text for maybe a tenth of them if that.

Can you summarise the most important one or two reasons why you are against it so I don’t have to spend a long time rummaging around past comments in different places?

As the alt text for each language can now be added in Wikimedia Commons structured data as described at https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Help:P11265 (see for example the English I added to https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Ruined_church_in_K%C4%B1z%C4%B1l%C4%B1rmak_Delta.jpg)

I am trying on my iphone and it may be hung or looping on 74/94 urls processed. I don’t have a non-Apple device to try it on. When you followed the steps to replicate above did it run successfully for you?

What privacy reasons please?

Any chance the priority of this could be raised - I am getting fed up of having to always write alt text on Wikipedia. Also I sometimes add pics on a Wikipedia for which I am not a native speaker so it would be very hard for me to write alt text there.
