I did a bunch of changed and I tested it with the page you mentioned and there it now looks ok I think: https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/c/mediawiki/extensions/WikiLambda/+/1269412
Suspected root cause: DB replication lag in production.

These are indeed a lot of spans that have a variety of classes which do things like : word-break: break-word and white-space: pre-wrap.

If you follow all the reproduction steps above and then refresh the page the fragments are not gotten from cache and again take a long time to load and eventually end up in Max Retries message again.

I would treat this as a feature. we need to see if we want a dialog with more info for example.and need to refine some things for it.
Modern browsers DO allow programmatic clipboard access, but with strict rules:

I am going to redebug the issue. It works better (as in it gets the right page from the right api) but somehow the check still fails (and locally it does not for that matter its a bit hard to debug)
Ive seen also messages about this in the community: https://t.me/Wikifunctions/29913

Ok I see the fetchPage info returns
On vector we should probably touch: https://abstract.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Vector.css
Th example above is vector2022 skin.
Could this be because the interwiki links or such were broken?

Is it correct that it shows up as « Hello, world! », not "Hello, world!" ?

Replacing Ace is my best bet indeed for this.
I tried the resize , it does not help.
Ok I checked ace bug board and got this:
@Redmin I see it happening in your example aswell. place the cursor at the end of local references = require('মডিউল:উইকিউপাত্ত তথ্যসূত্র বিন্যাসকরণ').format and its also doing strange erase
