Yesterday Jon Harald and I had a short meeting with Amir Aharoni, the man that knows the  preliminary solution for the no.wikipedia naming issue, while the more ideal solution need more development, and probably will not be ready this year neither.

Could this tast be gven a higher priority please. The Language community of Norwegian Nynorsk is very angry at Wikpedia and Wikimedia Norway because we are not able to fix the issue mentioned in https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T173602

@tstarling Thank you for your analysis! The community cannot accept to do anything with the domain name (I'm sorry to say).
What do you recommend among the four alternatives? Who can decide and execute the change?

As an administrator at Nynorsk Wikipedia I highly agree on this change.
This is correct according to all official registers.

@Danmichaelo There has been a lot of harm in the Nynorsk society about the prior solution as well. I want this to be correct.

This is Wikipedia and should be correct, even though some people don't like the facts.
According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ISO_639-1_codes no is Norwegian (Norsk) and nb is Norwegian Bokmål (Norsk Bokmål).

As an aside, I suspect the phrasing of the rationale - using the possesive pronoun "their" in the sentence "They didn't like that other people had access to their work" is probably significantly more controversial than the actual feature request itself.
